Have you ever thought about drinking pee?

There is a country in this world where you and I live where people drink recycled water from pee
instead of natural water and that is for real which is one of the fast growing, innovative and
successfully developed country in the world. That is Singapore
Singapore recycle pee (urine) and convert it into drinkable water. I understand that we are not used
to this fact but think again if you had to walk 8 hours a day to get drinking water. Everyone should
learn from an innovative Singapore that how to treat the upcoming sad reality.
George Madhvan director at Singapore public utilities board said, “You drink water, go to the toilet,
you pee, and we collect it back and clean it”. Now that is great innovative change to consider for the
situations like California and south Africa where water boards are limiting the residents for less
consumption of water rather than the treatment like Singapore (Weise, 2015).
There are lot of changes that happen to us every day some are acceptable some not, but sometime
changes are important, and we should not be afraid or refrain from the change specially an
innovative and life saving change.
Major places like California where draught is still going from last from years, south Africa, Libya,
Western Sahara etc are struggling with water issues from years and that never-ending war is still
going today. Where girls’ and women walk for 8 hours daily to bring drinking water to home for use,
which is a full-time job in itself and is a struggling one. Reig, Maddocks & Gassert (2013).
Natural water will end but not human pee? We still have the fear of future but with changes like
these there are hopes for our future generation to end up in sufficient needs. Technology keeps on
changing and continue to present great ideas of shaping or overcoming these barriers and
outcomes. Where social life and commercial life is getting effected by these recent changes as this
recycled water makes 30% of Singapore’s water today.
Water recycling treatment process is the strategy that is driving this change successfully. As the
water goes through great treatment which is tested 150,000 Times through different stages till
bottling (Nas, 2018).
Singapore is trying to retrieve every single drop of it and cleaning every single molecule from it. It
requires less money, time, energy and effort than desalinization of the water because it does not
require much lot of pumping from ground, high-tech systems etc. Strategy consists of Utilising what
they have in smartly manner to overcome the issue. Here is technique Singapore adopts as well.

We should not wait for problem to hit us and then to make change, but we should start making the
much-needed change today that is what I call a Strategy.
